hey guys!
i've been so busy lately! it's been a week of musical experiences! in the last week i've seen a. J.P Chrissie & The Fairground Boys (amazing) b. Black Keys & kings of leon (i missed the whigs...) c. The wailers It's been so inspiring. i also went to the symphony with my father!
also this week has been the NSAI songposium. so it's been busy with lot's of learning. hah. also had a co-writing session with two writers here in nashville that are just so much fun and so great to work with! :)
ALSO
i have two more shows booked...in new york. EEE! so excited. it's weird the way it worked out- i have one show on October 18th at Arlene's Grocery
and the other one is on October 19th at The Bitter End.
so..if you were to look back on my blog, you could find my postcards from EXACTLY one year to the day (on both shows) at the exact same venues. kinda crazy how that worked out, and how much has happened in one year.
sometimes as i'm driving down the highway or something..i just ask myself, "is this seriously my life?" i'm an independent "young lady" living my dream. it's incredibly difficult at times to branch out. trust me, to be completely honest, i struggle with insecurities all the time. but in the long run, i always get confirmation that i'm doing the right thing. i heard someone today say, "you don't choose music, it chooses you." and as cliche as that might sound, i've found it to be true. i mean, there are days when i HATE music & the music business. and then less than a few hours later, i'm digging through my oversized bag looking for a pen and some paper so i can write down a cool title i've come up with. it's a funny thing for sure.
people always ask, "can you see yourself doing anything else?" ...well, sure! i have so many things i'm interested/passionate about, but i believe they're all tied into one another. for me, music is the underlying factor behind art, dance, fashion, film, photography. so, even though i love all of those things, i rarely partake in them without any music. for instance, right now i have alanis morissette playing in the background. that's what tells me i'm truly a "musician." i can see myself doing something else, but i can't envision my life without music.
hopefully the next post will be a little less "jenny being introspective" and a little more fun, and picture/video filled. but i just can't help it. it's been a super long day, i'm up too late considering i have to be awake early in the morning. ohhh joy.
okay troopers, i love you.
